My grandmother's maiden name was Eliza Atkinson living in the Toxteth Park area of Liverpool, born 1857. She was married to Henry Mier. Their daughter Alice, born 18886 was my mother. She had 3 sisters, Sarah, Susan and Eliza and 2 brothers, John and Henry. It would be interesting to know if these names are familiar to you or if you have any other information Lil

Hello, tracey,
I did get your personal message, and sent a reply, but just to let you know where I'm up to, I have applied for a copy of Eliza Atkinson's marriage certificate. This will give me her parents' names, so I can see if they match up with your information.
Thanks for the family details, and will let you know the results.
Lilian

Eliza's father was named John. he was a boot maker they were married in London where they lived and must have come to Liverpool soon after thier marriage in 1877 and were in Liverpool in 1878. Hello Lilian, hope you are well, so do you think she may have been born in Ireland. IT'S SO FRUSTRATING. Just to let you know, I have recently found out, there were another 2 children born before my Eliza . they where on the next page in the 1851 census, they are: Stephen born about 1846 Ireland Margaret born about 1851 Liverpool so they were still coming and going to Ireland and Liverpool

Hello, I'm also looking for details on an Atkinson family who lived in Liverpool 8. My grandfather was John Atkinson. He was born on August 15, 1913, but we think took the name Atkinson after his real father died. Perhaps he was born with the surname Madden. That's all anyone in my family can remember. Anyway he married a Catherine (Kitty Mc Donnell) and they lived at 7 gibson st, 34 Dorrit St, 52 Pickwick Street and Beaufort St. I'm trying to find out anything I can about my grandfather John Atkinson, his half siblings were Edna, Josie, Billy, Bobby and Peggy. Can anyone out there help? I have details of his ships. He worked primarily on the Harrison Line.

Hi Tracey,
I just found some information on a different board, that answers my questions about my lineage. My great grandmother, Elizabeth Mc Kitterick (later Elizabeth Madden) married an Isaac J. Atkinson in 1916 in the Toxteth Park area. I'd love to know more about him, if he is related to your family.
Very best, Claire Atkinson (Now living in New York)
