Searching the 1891 census for my Great Grandmother (Margaret Jane Tipping), I noticed that as well as her sister and parents, there was a visitor to their home. She was the niece of Frederick Tipping (head of household), her name was Mary Jane Gundy, she was born in Everton in 1877. Does anyone have any information of Mary Jane, or indeed, of a marriage between Tipping and Gundy (her parents). All help gratefully received Thanks kimbodia

Hippy Dippy, I am not related in any way I just noticed you were struggling a little finding certain bits of info, so to keep my "old grey cells" working I like to help people whenever I can. On looking at the handwriting for the 1891 census for 47 Northumberland Street, although I am blind in one eye I could see that Fredericks neice was in fact Margaret Jane Gundy ( Margaret abreviated ) so was transcribed wrongly as Mary. This then led me to the 1881 census for 5 Corless Street Everton, Head: Richard GANDY age 24 yrs Poulterer b Lpool Wife Ann Gandy age 25 yrs born Garston, 4 children : Richard 2 yrs, Edith 6 yrs, Margaret 4 yrs, & Ellen.
I then looked at Marriages on Lancs BMDs & Free BMDs and found this: 1873 Richard Gandy married Ann Tipping at St Peters Everton. Registered: December Quarter 1873 West Derby Volume 8b Page 644.
1891 census for 39a Mark Street Everton N ( Netherfield Rd North ) Richard Gandy age 37 yrs Dock Lab born Liverpool Ann do - 35 - Wife - Garston Richard J do - 12 - Son - Liverpool --------------------- Birth: Margaret Jane Gandy September Quarter 1876 West Derby 8b 394 --------------------
