Ishmael WILLIAMS was born in Liverpool about 1827/28. A dock labourer, Ishmael was the son of a sailor, Owen WILLIAMS born about 1791/92 in Lancashire (possibly Liverpool) and wife Mary born 1790/91.
At the time of the 1841 census the family was living at 10 New Bird Street, Liverpool. By 1851 Mary WILLIAMS aged 60 is widowed, her birthplace is listed as Caernarvon, Wales.
Ishmael married Mary Jane Fisher (see FISHER) on 8 May 1859 at St. Saviour's Church. Coincidentally Mary Jane's family had lived in New Bird Street, Liverpool in the 1830's, so perhaps they grew up together. The witnesses to the wedding were Thomas WILLIAMS and Catherine WILLIAMS (likely related, but relationship unknown).
About 1862, the couple had a daughter, also Mary Jane WILLIAMS. Mary Jane Snr's mother was living with them in their home at 49 Townsend Street, Kirkdale, Liverpool when she died.
Ishmael died on 9 May 1870 at Wellington Dock, Liverpool from injuries to his body sustained when he fell into the hold of a steamer.
I have not been able to trace the lives of the two Mary Jane's beyond the 1871 census which showed them still at Townsend Street (with boarders living in the cellar). It is possible Mary Jane Snr's brother Henry Fisher could have helped her financially after the death of her husband.
Contact from anyone regarding those listed above is most welcome ....
