My great grandfather , CHARLES WILLIAM MOSS (baptised in the Toxteth Park area of Liverpool in 1863) seems to have started work --in Liverpool-under another name! A record of employment for him has been found among a late great uncle's possessions which has the name CHARLES CHESHIRE on--after which my uncle added MOSS To add to the mystery, in the same tin was a pipe belonging to my great grandfather and that had the name CHARLES CHESHIRE ASKEW MOSS on a card which was with it A cousin & I had heard-many years ago-mention of a grandma Cheshire--the implication seeming to be that she might have been a step mother to Charles--but his father & my mother were vague about the connection My mother added that she thought that the Cheshires were Quakers. Until the above find, neither the name Cheshire not Askew hasn't turned up on any records . Does anybody have anyone in their family history with these names--any or all of them?! Thank you
