I am researching my grandmother's family who, according to the 1901 census, were born in Liverpool but I cannot find the registration of their births. Lena Peterson was born circa 1874 and married Thomas Cahill and had a child, Thomas, in the 1901 census. Can't find her in the 1881 and 1891 census. She had a hairdresser's in Liverpool and her daughter, Peggy, was killed in an air raid in Liverpool during the War. Edith Peterson was born circa 1881, was in the Workhouse in the 1891 census, went to Pentasaph RC school 1892 and lived at St Clare's Convent in Flint and then was married to Robert Galbraith in the 1901 census. John Peterson was living with Lena, his sister, in the 1901 census and was born 1894. He married, was widowed with a child whom he left with his wife's parents, emigrated to the USA, returned and lost his life in the Spanish Civil War. Their father's name was Augustavus or August Peterson, a mariner/ship's steward who was dead by 1896. Mother's name has drawn a blank as I don't have any birth records - lots of birth certificates that don't fit in!
