My grandfather was Louis FREEMAN. The name has evolved from FRIEDMAN to FREEDMAN before it became FREEMAN. Louis was a Jewish immigrant born about 1866. He 1st showed up in Leeds when he married his 1st wife Rachel nee SIMON in 1890. After they had their 1st son Dal or David, they came to Liverpool, where Rachel died in 1904 after giving Louis six children in all. Later Louis married my grandmother Rebecca COHEN (nee COHEN & formerly COHEN) They had 2 children before Rebecca died at only 36. A few years later, Louis married for a 3rd time to Rosa nee GREENBLATT ( & formerly YANKELOVITCH) They had one more daughter before Rosa died in 1932.
Nothing more is know about Louis' roots. No parents, uncles, aunts, brothers or sisters have been found for him anywhere in the UK. His MC sates that his father's name was Tobias. The only Tobias I have found anywhere in the Uk is a Tobias FREEDMAN who died in Dublin in 1902 & the age makes him a possibility & I'm researching with my fingers crossed in knots!
If you have any info or any of these names ring any bells for you, I would love to hear from you.
