Interested in finding any records or information that relate to:John BOULLEN born 1837 in CarlisleYoungest Son of John (a.k.a. Jean) Godefroy BOULLEN and Eleanor HASTINGS. John was a dealer/merchant/traveller in tea who arrived in the Liverpool area sometime around 1864/5 with his wife Anna Elizabeth (a.k.a. Hannah) COSTAIN who was born on the Isle of Man - the couple had been married in Manchester in 1856. Between 1865 and 1879 they appear to have had at least five children born and baptised in the area (see below). Resident at 12 Berry Street, Bootle in 1871 Census and later in that same year nearby at 115 St Johns Road in Kirkdale (as per baptismal record for son) . Thereafter the family appears to have moved to Manchester where they are recorded in the 1891 Census. The last record I have of the family in the Liverpool area is a record for the infant death of their youngest son in 1879. Children born in the area: - Frederick Hastings BOULLEN b.1865
- Robert Henry BOULLEN b.1867
- Frances Eleanor BOULLEN b.1869
- Henry BOULLEN b.1871
- Albert Edward BOULLEN b.1874 d.1879
Some records show the name, which is of Huguenot origin, corrupted to Bullen.
