Would just like to update a bit on this, as I didn't realise I left so little info in the last post ;D
Thomas Crosby born 1857 married Mary Ann Waterhouse in 1881, in Habergham Eaves.
Thomas I believe was from Halewood, and Mary from Wavertree. No idea why they got married up near Burnley, though I assume Mary was working up there. On the wedding cert, Thomas was living on Dale St, and Mary at Clifton House.
They had 3 children, Hannah 1882 born Liverpool ( according to the census ), William born 1883 Wavertree registration district, , and Elizabeth c1886 in Wavertree ( according to census ).
Thomas died 1890, and on the death cert he was a waiter in a club, 11 Bowyers buildings.
On the 1891, Mary is working as a servant in Altrincham, Hannah is at the Industrial school for girls, Dingle Lane, and William and Elizabeth are staying with the Waterhouses in Bowyers Buildings, Wavertree.
On the 1901, Mary and Hannah are both working in Dunham Massey, though for different employers, William is lodging in Urmston, and Elizabeth is at the Industrial school for girls, Dingle Lane.
I am desperately trying to find out what became of Hannah and Elizabeth. It was said that once married, Hannah emigrated to America c1912, but I haven't been able to follow this up. I have checked BMD's for marriages and tried cross checking them with the immigration records, but have drawn blanks. I also did this with Elizabeth too, just incase it was her who emigrated.
Communication wasn't a big thing in my family. My Uncle thoguht that there was only 1 daughter, Hannah ( which is why I'm assuming it was Hannah that emigrated ), and my mother didn't know there were any daughters. All she could remember was someone called Phoebe sending over parcels to my Gt Grandparents, and then them being visited by 2 airline hostesses, in the 1950's or 60's.
All I'm hoping is that someone may recognise the family, and get in touch.
Thanks!
