Samuel FURNIVAL was born about 1786. He was a grocer in Liverpool at various locations: 17 Pownall Square, Scotland Place, Byrom street, 13 Tythbarn street, 88, 90 Dale street, 109 St. James street, sometimes with Daniel FURNIVAL (his brother?). Samuel married Ann KNOWLES (widow) 12 Sep.1811 in St. Peter, Liverpool. The witnesses were John BROWNBILL and Elizabeth BROWNBILL.
The 23 September 1817 Edinburgh Advertiser lists as bankrupt: Samuel FURNIVAL, of Liverpool, Grocer.
Samuel and Ann FURNIVAL had Mary Ann (1812), William George (1813, my ancestor), and Samuel (1816). In 1821 the family (including also a Jane FURNIVAL born 1809) went to New York City where Samuel Sr and Jr were ropemakers. Samuel Sr died 10 Nov 1849.
Daniel FURNIVAL married Ann CLAPHAM 25 Dec.1815. They had William Francis (1816) and Samuel Smith Clapham (1818)
