Hi, looking for survivors of the Gildea family.
I think they came to u.k. about 1855.
They came from Co Tyrone in Ireland
Ann married to Charles Gildea, dont know if Charles came with them ?
Ann Gildea b= 1820 ....... Daughters were....
Arabella b= 1851 aprox
Julia b= ?? Charlotte b= ??
All born in Ireland.
All seemed to live in Toxteth area of L.pool. I think there were more children but I havent found them yet.
g.g.grandmother Ann, later married a Richard Maddocks
who had quite a lot to do with St Thomas's Church in L.pool 8 area.
He was an 'officer' of the church. (whatever that meant.?)
Are there any relatives lurking out there ????

My father was Gerald A.F.Gildea, I lived in Liverpool until I emigrated to canada in 1969, I have a family tree book written by colonel Sir James Gildea in 1916.

Back in the late sixties the junior priest at St Agnes in Huyton was Father Gildea. His Latin was spoken in a very Scouse accent. He moved to St Matthews (on Queens Drive/Townsend) I believe he was a member of the dioscese Football team.

Hi Jeanmary,
I'm descended from Sir James Gildea. My mother is his brother William's son's (George - moved to Argentina), son's (Stanhope) daughter.
My mother married my father (Rodney Russell) & they lived in England & Mallorca. I've just written a book about peace & have just come back from Liverpool, having addressed the follow-in meeting of the Global Leader's Congress). So I am particularly interested to find out what relation we are to John Lennon, the great 'peace man' (after Gandhi!)
Can't think how we can find out though. Any ideas?

If you post the query on the main forum, you may have help with your query. There is a member called 'blue', who is I believe researching the ancestry of John Lennon
