Reasearching all McGurn's who came to Liverpool in the early 1800's..
My immediate ancestor's are CHRISTOPHER McGURN b c1814 Leitrim and his wife MARY GORMLY b c1819 Roscommon.
Nearly all McGurn's who came over from Ireland at this time are related especially those who landed in Liverpool.
Currently trying to find brothers or sisters of Christopher some of who may have gone on to Canada and America.
Common names down the years are, Christopher, Philip, Charles, Robert. Many children given two names at birth, which appears to be unusual. I discovered and confirmed most of my lineage this way.
One variant of my McGurn's has been G.G.Grandfather having McGORRIN for a surname on the male side and for his mother GORMAND instead of GORMLY.
