Hi. I am trying to track down my Paternal Grandmother's Grandfather, James Rimmer. He was apparently known by the name Gentleman Jim Rimmer.
According to the 1891 Census:
1891, 5 Garibaldi Street, Everton Vale, Liverpool.
William Rimmer (Husband) Age 38 (b 1853)Cotton Porter Mary Rimmer (Wife) Age 32 (b 1859) Hellen Rimmer Age 14 (b 1877) James Rimmer Age 12 (b 1879) Eliza Rimmer Age 9 (b 1882) Frances Rimmer Age 6 (b 1885) Sarah Rimmer Age 4 (b 1887)
At some time around his early 20s James Rimmer married and had at least 2 children. 2 were daughters.
Mary Rimmer and Jane Rimmer.
Mary married someone called Eyre, and became Mary Eyre. But she had 2 children with a man called William Butler.
These were John Butler, and Marjorie Eyre, my Grandmother. She was adopted at 6 months by the Binns, in Cowling, nr Keighley, W. Yorks.
Jane married and became Jane Maslin, living in Willowbank Avenue, Blackpool. She had two children, Elsie and Vincent Maslin. Elsie married and became Elsie May, then moved to Canada where she is in a nursing home in her 90s and is called Elsie Chance, after her marriage to Thomas (?) Chance.
Vincent had 2 children, one called Ross.
The interesting thing about James Rimmer or Gentleman Jim Rimmer, is that as far as we know, he worked for the Liverpool Empire Theatre, and went out on tours. And we believe he actually died on tour, possibly in Rugby or Rugeley
So if anyone can provide any information on the above then that would be wonderful.
Many thanks
Nicholas Harrison

I've no idea, i'm afraid. All the details that I've got are as above and all are drawn from the 1891 Census.
What sort of detail do you have? If you've got a William Rimmer, 1853-, then what other more recent relatives do you have?
Many apologies for not checking the board. If you want to mail me at npharrison@tiscali.co.uk that'd be great.
