Hello Everyone
I have had a wonderful journey into my Tellett ancestors so I thought I would share what I have so far,
My earliest Tellett is one George Tellett who according to his ships service record was born on the 09 May 1917 in Liverpool. When George turned 11 he was apprenticed to William Seddon a shipwright in Liverpool who must have had a large business as he took on over 11 boys as apprentices on the 02 Dec 1826.
Either for love or to get out of his apprenticeship in his final years he married Letitia Hughes in Berkenhead on the 11 May 1834 and on the 25 July 1840 he is recorded on the Liverpool freemen's register.
During the 1841 and 1851 Census George and Letitia were living on Virgil Street, Liverpool and had the following children
Thomas
James
George
Ann
William and on the 1861 census there is another child called
Mary
Between Aug 1859 and Dec 1863 George served on the HMS Pearl as a Shipwright and the ships description says that he had smallpox scarring, was 5ft 4ish with black hair, hazel eyes and a dark complexion (which considering the ship was part of the Ashanti War in Africa does not surprise me).
Unfortunately for George his wife Letitia passed away on 15 April 1866 between this date and 1881 when George was found at the workhouse where he later died I have no information (but I am still digging away). George died on the 19 April 1884 at the Liverpool Workhouse of Cerebral Disease.
This is George Tellett senior's abridged story
next I will tell of His children if that is alright with everyone
thank you
Elaine
