:(I have been trying to find this SMITH for well over a year now. Perhaps someone here can help. He was Austin SMITH born Ireland c1831. In the 1851 census he is a Dock Labourer in Liverpool. In 1858 he marries Elizabeth Pepper in St. Brides Church and by then he is a Mariner. In 1883 his daughter is married and on her marriage cert he is a Master mariner, it doesn't say he's deceased. My problem is that I can't find a birth or death for him, nor does he appear on any census other than 1851. His wife and children appear on the 1871 census living in Alfred street, she is an annuitant and also has a lodger. She is described as the head of the household. I was told by family that Austin had been captain of a ship going between Liverpool and New york. Can anyone help please? I don't know what else to do. Thanks.
