Mary BURNS was born in Liverpool about 1805/6 and married a shipwright, William Fisher (see FISHER) on 7 July 1828 at St. Peter's Church in Church Street.
When daughter Mary Jane Fisher was baptised in the same church on 24 January 1830, the family was living at New Bird Street, Liverpool and by the census in mid-1841 the family home was at 3 Bunbury Place, Toxteth Park. The intervening years saw the birth of daughter Elizabeth in late 1831, twin boys John and Henry in 1833 and daughter Ellen Elizabeth in 1837.
Mary's husband William died of ascites or "dropsy" on 6 February 1859 at home, then 25 Rock Street, Toxteth Park and was buried on 9 February 1859 in Toxteth Park Cemetery [Section J, Grave 69]. The 1861 census shows Mary was still living at the Rock Street address.
Mary Fisher (nee BURNS) died of cancer of the womb on 11 July 1863 at 49 Townsend Street, Kirkdale (home of her daughter Mary Jane Fisher) and was buried on 14 July 1863 alongside husband William in the Toxteth Park Cemetery [Section J, Grave 69]. Son John, a brass finisher with the railway in Crewe, Cheshire was the informant.
