I am researching the Liverpool family of Vignauxs. Joseph Vignaux senior arrived in 1779 as a surgeon on board of the Liverpool privateer 'Stag' and subsequently became a surgeon in the town until his death in 1799. His son continued as a surgeon there until his death in 1821. The last Vignaux in Liverool was Mary Ratcliffe Vignaux who died in the workhouse in 1891. #nosmileys

Hi Stephmdb, I do hope you're still checking the board. I have come across Mary Ann Vignaux. Mary Ann "Vigneau" (as she was spelt) acted as sponsor, or godmother, to a child of my ancestors at baptism in 1823 in St. Peter's R..C. Church, Liverpool. I would very much like to know how the Vignaux family came to know my family - perhaps we are related? Please get in touch. Sue
